HANDYPERSON SERVICE
The Handyperson Service is a prevention service and the main emphasis is placed on tasks, which will help:
- Maintain a person’s independence in the home
- Improve safety in the home
- Improve security in the home
- The Service user will be contacted within 10 working days
- We aim for work to be carried out within 20 working days
The Handyperson Service provides the following:
- Supply and fit grab rails
- Supply and fit handrails on stairs
- Prevent tripping hazards
- Assist entry into homes by levelling small areas of flagstones and concreting small ramps
- Supply and fit handrails in gardens
- Power washing
- Small plumbing jobs
- Many other small jobs
- Key safe installations
The Handyperson Service has joined in a partnership with other organisations within Wigan Borough called Wigan POPP (Partnership for Older People). This partnership is about providing support for people aged 50 or over who are experiencing changing times which affect:
- Independence
- Confidence
- Well Being
By working together Wigan POPP aims to prevent a situation worsening and turning into a crisis.
