Starting Point
Age Concern Wigan Borough are contracted by Wigan Council to provide a telephone help line which offers advice and support to people 50 and over.
This service is designed to enable people with low to moderate needs to maintain their independance. Starting Point will help to provide services such as
- Handyperson Service
- Hairdressing
- Hand and Foot Nailcare
- Cleaning
- Laundry
- Shopping
- Benefit advice and help in completing benefit claim forms
- Befriending
- Accessing luncheon clubs and social events
- Advocacy
- Gardening
- Home Safety (Sure at Your Door)
- Liaison Service (Home visits arranged at your convenience to discuss your domestic care needs in the comfort of your own home)
The aim of the service is to enable people to maintain their independance and control over decisions about the services they need.
We aim to respond to within 10 days to your request and ensure services required are provided within 28 days.
We aim to ensurethat services offer continuity and are provided at a reasonable cost by reliable agencies, where other agencies are recommended they will be reference checked prior to being included on our list.
Some services may be provided by other departments within our organisation, such as our Care at Home Service or Handyperson Service. Many more services are available through Starting Point please don't hesitate to contact us whatever your need may be.
